Kubota 02/05 series Engine

⚠ Burn hazard: generator and coolant can be hot.

Tools: paper towels/cloth, oil dipstick

1. Place generator level; for marine generators measure when ship is not lop-sided.
2. Run generator about 10 minutes to warm engine, then wait 3 minutes.
3. Secure generator against accidental start and open casing.
4. Pull oil dipstick, clean it, reinsert and wait 10 seconds.
5. Read oil level at lower end of stick; recommended level 2/3 between min and max.

1. Close water cock.
2. Release raw water filter regularly from arrears.
3. Beat the filter basket; if water seeps through cover check sealing ring and replace if needed.
4. Do not seal cover with adhesive or sealant.

⚠ Risk of scalding; hot cooling water can leak from pressure relief valve.

1. Fill external expansion tank with coolant to max marking; open its cover.
2. Open venting screw at thermostat housing and close when air-free water comes out.
3. Start generator unloaded and switch off after approx. 10 seconds.
4. Repeat until no more air comes out of venting screw; close venting screws.
5. Fill expansion tank to max marking and close.
6. Repeat ventilation process 10 operating hours after first start-up if necessary.

Tools: screwdriver, compressed air

1. Use screwdriver to lever out tension spring.
2. Lift the air filter housing.
3. Release three snap fastenings and remove lower housing part.
4. Remove main element with light turning movement from inner support pipe.
5. Clean by blowing out with dry compressed air max. 5 bar or replace after 2 years at latest.
6. Reassemble in reverse order.

Tools: 8 mm spanner

1. Open air suction housing by loosening six screws on housing cover with 8 mm spanner.
2. Change the air filter mat.
3. Close the suction air housing.

⚠ Burn hazard.

⚠ Used oil is toxic and must be disposed of properly.

Tools: 17 mm open-ended wrench, oil filter wrench, container, oil-resistant mat, paper towels

1. Run engine warm, wait 3 minutes, secure against accidental start and open casing.
2. Prepare oil-resistant mat and container under oil drain hose.
3. Loosen oil filling cap.
4. Open oil drain screw with 17 mm wrench and drain used oil.
5. Remove used oil filter with filter wrench.
6. Clean filter holder and apply thin oil layer to new filter seal.
7. Screw in new filter by hand; refit oil drain screw with new sealing.
8. Fill engine oil and check level after every 2 litres.
9. Run engine 10 minutes, stop, wait and recheck oil level.

⚠ Clamped inlet and fuel spill precautions required.

1. Clamp inlet before exchanging the filter.
2. Remove hoses from used filter.
3. Fasten hoses to new filter; observe arrow for fuel flow direction.
4. For sight-glass version: unscrew housing and element left-hand.
5. Screw new filter element into mount.
6. Lubricate sight glass O-ring with Antiseize and screw sight glass back right-hand.

⚠ Close raw water stop cock before work.

Tools: multigrip pliers

1. Close raw water stop cock.
2. Remove cover of raw water pump by loosening housing screws.
3. Pull impeller from shaft with multigrip pliers and mark its position.
4. Check impeller for damage and replace if necessary.
5. Lubricate impeller with glycerin or non-mineral oil based lubricant e.g. silicone spray.
6. Attach impeller to pump shaft; fasten cover with new seal.

⚠ Shut down generator before checking V-belt tension.

Tools: 12 mm wrench, 14 mm wrench

1. Loosen fixing screw above alternator with 12 mm wrench.
2. Loosen fixing screw below alternator with 14 mm wrench.
3. Push alternator toward thermostat housing.
4. Replace the V-belt.
5. Tension V-belt by pulling alternator back; belt should yield approx. 1 cm with thumb.
6. Re-tighten screws above and below alternator.

⚠ Fuel is flammable; no open flames or smoking.

Tools: cloth/Kleenex tissue

1. Start the fuel pump using the iControl2 Prime fuel function or START button.
2. Open ventilation screw at fuel solenoid valve while START is pressed.
3. Place cloth beneath connection to catch escaping fuel.
4. Close ventilation screw when fuel runs out without air bubbles; then release START.
5. Switch panel OFF.
6. Repeat until fuel is bubble-free.
7. If necessary loosen injection line connecting nut and repeat; retighten afterward.

⚠ Automatic start-up danger; ensure generator capsule is closed and warning signs are affixed.

1. Select Autostart in set-up menu and confirm with Start/Stop button.
2. Select Enable or Disable with cursor buttons.
3. Confirm selection with Start/Stop button.
4. Setting is saved to EEPROM and controller shuts down.
5. After restart, AUTOSTART or STANDBY status indicates state.

1. Pull handle in arrow direction and lift lash of closure pin.
2. After lifting off lashes, remove sound isolation cover upper part.
