  2. Loosen the governor clamp bolt (13 mm).
  3. Hold governor lever wide open; rotate governor shaft clockwise fully.
  4. Tighten governor lever clamp bolt to 70 in-lbs (8 Nm).
  5. Connect a frequency meter across the AC output leads (MLCB).
  6. Start the generator and warm up at no-load.
  7. Turn the adjust nut to obtain a frequency reading of 62.5 Hz.
Test 70 - Check and Adjust Valves adjustment

Tools: feeler gauge, socket, wrench

  1. Ensure the engine is cool before checking.
  2. Remove spark plug wire and position it away from the plug.
  3. Remove the spark plug.
  4. Rotate the engine clockwise until piston is at TDC compression stroke.
  5. Remove the four screws attaching the valve cover.
  6. Loosen rocker jam nut; set clearance with a feeler gauge.
  7. CorePower: intake 0.005-0.007 in; exhaust 0.007-0.009 in.
  8. PowerPact: intake and exhaust 0.002-0.004 in.
  9. Tighten jam nut to 70 to 106 in-lbs; recheck clearance; install new gasket.
Check Compression diagnostic

Tools: compression gauge

  1. Remove the spark plug.
  2. Insert a compression gauge into the cylinder.
  3. Crank the engine until there is no further increase in pressure.
  4. Record the highest reading obtained.
  5. Minimum allowable compression pressure for a cold engine is 60 PSI.
Test 1 - Check Main Circuit Breaker diagnostic

Tools: Volt-Ohm-Meter

  1. Set VOM to R x 1 scale and zero the meter.
  2. With generator shut down, disconnect all wires from breaker terminals.
  3. Connect probes to Wire 11 (Blue) terminal and the E1 terminal.
  4. Set breaker Closed; VOM should read CONTINUITY.
  5. Set breaker Open; VOM should indicate INFINITY.
  6. Repeat with probes across Wire 44 (Black) and the E2 terminal.
Test 6 - Resistance Check of Rotor and Rotor Circuit diagnostic

Tools: Volt-Ohm-Meter

  1. Disconnect the Red (Wire 4) and White (Wire 1) wires from the regulator.
  2. Set a VOM to measure resistance.
  3. Measure across the brush wires and record the resistance.
  4. CorePower: approximately 40 ohms +/-20. PowerPact: approximately 50 ohms +/-20.
Reconfigure the Fuel System maintenance

Tools: needle nose pliers

  1. Locate fuel throttle assembly mounted to engine intake.
  2. Remove hose clamp and hose from throttle assembly.
  3. Remove Natural Gas (larger ID) fuel jet from fuel inlet.
  4. Obtain the Propane fuel jet (smaller ID) supplied loose.
  5. Verify the O-ring is installed in the fuel jet groove.
  6. Insert the Propane fuel jet into the end of the fuel inlet.
  7. Reinstall hose and clamp onto fuel inlet and secure.
  8. Verify the hose has not been kinked in any way.
Before Starting operation

⚠ Do not fill oil above the FULL mark.

  1. Ensure the generator is OFF.
  2. Set the generator main circuit breaker to OFF (or OPEN).
  3. Turn off all breakers that will be powered by the generator.
  4. Check crankcase oil level; fill to dipstick FULL mark.
  5. Check fuel supply; purge and leak test lines; open all fuel shutoff valves.
Generator Activation operation
  1. Locate and record the generator serial number.
  2. Contact Generac to obtain your activation code.
  3. Hold the OFF button for 3 seconds; all LEDs flash twice.
  4. Enter the 6-press code using AUTO, OFF and SET EXERCISE within 20 seconds.
  5. If incorrect, AUTO/OFF/MANUAL flash 3 times; return to Step 3.
  6. If correct, all LEDs scroll bottom to top 5 times.
Manual Start and Transfer to Standby operation

⚠ Engine will crank and start!

  1. Set the controller switch to OFF mode.
  2. Set the generator main line circuit breaker to Open.
  3. Locate a means of Utility disconnect and set it to OFF.
  4. Manually actuate the breaker to Standby in the transfer switch.
  5. Set the controller switch to MANUAL mode; engine cranks and starts.
  6. Warm up 1-2 minutes; set the generator MLCB to Closed.
Retransfer to Utility and Manual Shutdown operation
  1. Set the generator MLCB to the OPEN position.
  2. Allow the generator to run at no-load several minutes to cool down.
  3. Set the generator controller to OFF mode.
  4. Locate a means of Utility disconnect and set it to OFF.
  5. Manually actuate the breaker in the transfer switch to Utility.
