Yamaha — Muffler Screen and Spark Arrester (EF4000DE/YG4000D)

Before you start

  • The engine and muffler will be very hot after the engine has been run.
  • When cleaning, use the wire brush lightly to avoid damaging or scratching the muffler screen and spark arrester.

Procedure

  1. Remove the muffler screen.
  2. Use a flathead screw driver to pry the spark arrester out from the muffler.
  3. Remove the spark arrester.
  4. Remove carbon deposits using a wire brush.
  5. Check the muffler screen and spark arrester; replace if damaged.
  6. Install the spark arrester, aligning its projection with the hole in the muffler pipe.
  7. Install the muffler screen.
