Before you start

  • The engine and muffler will be very hot after the engine has been run.

Procedure

  1. Remove bolts and pull outward on rear cover.
  2. Loosen screw and remove muffler cap, muffler screen and spark arrester.
  3. Remove carbon deposits using a wire brush.
  4. Check muffler screen and spark arrester; replace if damaged.
  5. Install the spark arrester aligning projection with hole in muffler pipe.
  6. Install the muffler screen and muffler cap.
  7. Install the rear cover and tighten the bolts.
