Yamaha — Air Filter

Maintenance

From a Yamaha owner's manual covering: EF1600, EF2600, YG2600. Check it applies to your exact model before use.

Before you start

  • Do not wring out the element; it could tear.
  • Never use solvent while smoking or in the vicinity of an open flame.
  • The engine should never run without the element; excessive piston and cylinder wear may result.

Procedure

  1. Remove the air filter cover and element.
  2. Wash the element in solvent and dry it.
  3. Oil the element and squeeze out excess oil; element should be wet but not dripping.
  4. Insert the element into the air filter so the sealing surface matches with no air leak.

Specs & values

  • Recommended oil: Foam-air-filter oil or SAE #20 motor oil
