Wisconsin — Rocker Arm and Shaft Assembly Removal and Installation

Before you start

  • NOTE: Beginning with serial #5634850, setscrew is secured in place with #271 Loctite in place of staking

Procedure

  1. Take out shaft setscrew from bottom of bracket with a 1/8" Allen wrench
  2. Tap shaft out toward setscrew end of bracket, using a brass rod
  3. For engines with serial # 5634850 and later, if setscrew is secured with #271 Loctite, apply heat (400°F) to setscrew to loosen it
  4. In reassembly: ensure flat surface on shaft for setscrew lines up with tapped hole in bracket
  5. Apply #271 Loctite to setscrew threads and securely tighten in place
  6. Lubricate shaft so that rocker arm bearings will not operate dry when starting engine

Tools required

  • 1/8" Allen wrench
  • brass rod

Specs & torque values

  • #271 Loctite
  • setscrew secured with Loctite or staking
