Westerbeke 90A FOUR — Changing the Transmission Fluid (Hurth HSW)

Maintenance

For the Westerbeke 90A FOUR, from the Westerbeke operator's manual.

Before you start

  • Never pull out the dipstick while the engine is running. Hot fluid will splash from the dipstick hole.

Procedure

  1. Push a suction pump hose down through the pipe hole (under the filter) to the bottom of the housing and suck out the fluid.
  2. Remove the oil return line from the cooler and allow the oil to drain into a container, then reconnect the line.
  3. Wipe down the transmission and properly dispose of the used fluid.
  4. Pour in new DEXRON III ATF fluid and check the quantity with the dipstick.
  5. Reinsert the filter assembly into the housing, press it in place and tighten the Allen screw.
  6. Run the engine, shut down and recheck the fluid level.
