Before you start
- Never use a metal tool to scrape carbon from the exhaust port
- Do not scratch the cylinder or piston when cleaning the exhaust port
- Do not allow carbon particles to enter the cylinder
Procedure
- Remove spark plug lead from spark plug and remove muffler cover.
- Place piston at top dead center.
- Remove muffler and heat shield.
- Use a wood or plastic scraping tool to clean deposits from cylinder exhaust port.
- Inspect heat shield and replace if damaged.
- Install heat shield and muffler.
- Tighten muffler mounting bolts to 90-110 kgf·cm (80-95 in·lbf).
- Install muffler cover and attach spark plug lead.
- Start engine and warm to operating temperature.
- Stop engine and re-tighten mounting bolts to specifications.

- Wood or plastic scraping tool

- Muffler mounting bolts torque: 90-110 kgf·cm (80-95 in·lbf)
