Before you start

  • The nut must always be changed.
  • Use tool no. 884724.

Procedure

  1. Screw a new nut on.
  2. Turn the chamfer inwards.
  3. NOTE: The nut must always be changed.
  4. Use tool no. 884724.
  5. Start off with low torque.
  6. Test the pre-load with a spring balance.
  7. Fix the gear wheel or shaft in a vise with soft jaw pads.
  8. Wind a string round the bearing housing, and pull with spring balance to test.

  • Soft jaw vise pads
  • String
  • Spring balance
  • Tool no. 884724
