RD-1820 — Rocker Arms and Push Rod Service
For the RD-1820.
Procedure
- Inspect rocker arms for cracks
- Inspect rocker arm rollers for flat spots, chipped edges, cracks, and pitting
- Check roller end clearance in rocker arm yoke
- Inspect pin for tightness
- Grind pin end flush with fork face if replacement needed
- Drill out pin portion and drive pin out using punch
- Install new rocker arm roller and hub
- Drive in new pin and upset it with heavy hammer on both sides
- Peen over pin ends
- Press out rocker arm bearing using drift
- Heat rocker arm in 250°F oil bath
- Chill bearing in dry ice and alcohol mixture
- Press bearing into rocker arm
