Procedure

  9. key point 1:
  10. Inspection:
  11. Check and clean engine block. Including but not limited to: Assembly environment must be
  12. clean; check engine block finished surfaces for crash damage, scratch and rust; do not bump
  13. and scratch the parts during assembling, and besides special requirements, sharp corner
  14. and edge on parts must be smoothed.
  15. Installation:
  16. For 4-cylinder engine, 10 of M14-10.9 main bearing bolts are used to fix the bearings. As
  17. shown in Fig. below, tighten from the middle bolts, and then move to two ends alternately,
  18. follow the procedures below: pre-tighten each bolt to 70Nm, then turn the bolts for further
  19. 90°±4°.

  21. Key point 2: Installation
  22. Install the thrust bearing cap on rear end of engine block, and the others are non-thrust
  23. bearing caps. Take the cap two ends as locating basis when assembling; the main bearing
  24. bolts cannot be screwed on if the cap is inversely placed.

Tools required

  • Apply sealant on the rear oil seal outer ring first, and then press-in the seal slowly with
  • dedicated tool. NOTICE: Do not damage the seal during assembling, and seal outer ring
  • pneumatic impact wrench and an open-end wrench.

Specs & torque values

  • 70Nm
  • 85Nm
  • 145Nm
