Before you start

  • The engine MUST be barred over three complete rotations before starting the engine once new cylinder heads are installed.
  • Cylinder head bolts allow only 3 times, after 3 times, please replace the new parts.
  • Valve stem gland only allowed to use once, in case of repair must be replaced by new parts.

Procedure

  1. Disassembly:
  2. 1. Loosen and remove the eyebolts on both ends of the engine.
  3. 2. Loosen the cylinder head bolt and nut, and remove the clamping block.
  4. 3. Loosen the cylinder head main bolt and remove the main bolt and place it in place.
  5. 4. Remove the ignition coil bushing, release the ignition coil bushing mounting plate bolts.
  6. 5. Remove the cylinder head and place on board to avoid wearing the combustion chamber upper surface.
  7. 6. Remove the cylinder head gasket.
  8. 7. If necessary, remove the cylinder head bolt.
  9. 8. Remove the valve stem gland.
  10. Assembly:
  11. 1. Assemble cylinder head bolt (allows 3 uses).
  12. 2. Install oil cooler cap assembly side bolt with anaerobic thread locking agent 262.
  13. 3. Clean the threaded hole on the cylinder body.
  14. 4. Tighten the bolts, tightening torque: (20+10) N·m.
  15. 5. Assemble cylinder head gasket (can only be used once).
  16. 6. Tighten cylinder head main bolts to 60±6Nm in specified sequence.
  17. 7. Tighten auxiliary bolts to 25±3Nm in specified sequence.
  18. 8. Tighten auxiliary bolts by 120°±5°, then make marks.
  19. 9. Tighten main bolts by 120°±5°, then make marks.
  20. 10. Tighten auxiliary bolts by another 120°±5°.
  21. 11. Tighten main bolts by another 120°±5°.

Tools required

  • Socket wrench

Specs & torque values

  • Cylinder head bolt torque: 60±6Nm (main bolts)
  • Auxiliary bolt torque: 25±3Nm
  • Three 120° rotations for final tightening
  • Valve Depression Requirements: Intake -0.2~0.2 mm, Exhaust -0.22~0.22 mm
