Procedure

  2. Compressor Discharge Pressure Gauge - Indicates pressure in receiver tank, psi
  3. (kPa).
  4. 2.
  5. Hourmeter - Records running time for maintenance.
  6. 3.
  7. Service Air Button - After warm-up, PUSH. Provides full air pressure at the service
  8. outlet.
  9. 4.
  10. Power Switch - Rotate to “ON” position to activate system prior to Starting. Rotate
  11. “OFF” to stop engine.
  12. Before Starting
  13. • Open service valve(s) to ensure pressure is relieved in receiver-separator system. Close
  14. valve(s) in order to build up full air pressure and ensure proper oil circulation.
  15. • Check battery for proper connections and condition.
  16. • Check battery for proper connections and condition.
  17. • Check engine coolant level.

  25. Do not remove pressure cap from a HOT radiator. Allow radiator to cool down
  26. before removing pressure cap. Use extreme care when removing a pressure cap
  27. from a liquid cooling system for the engine. The sudden release of pressure from
  28. a heated cooling system can result in a loss of coolant and possible severe
  29. personal injury.
  30. • Check the engine oil level. Maintain per marks on dipstick.
  31. • Check the fuel level. Add only CLEAN low or ultra low sulfur diesel fuel for maximum
  32. service from the engine.
  33. • Check the compressor lubricating fluid level between bottom and midway of the sight glass
  34. on the separator tank.
  35. WARNING

  37. This machine produces loud noise with doors open. Extended exposure to loud
  38. noise can cause hearing loss. Wear hearing protection when doors or valve (s) are
  39. open.
  40. • Close all doors to maintain a cooling air path and to avoid recirculation of hot air. This will
  41. maximize the life of the engine and compressor and protect the hearing of surrounding
  42. personnel.
  43. • Be sure no one is IN or ON the compressor unit.
  44. WARNING

  46. Unrestricted air flow from a hose will result in a whipping motion of the hose which
  47. can cause severe injury or death. A safety device must be attached to the hose at
  48. the source of supply to reduce pressure in case of hose failure or other sudden
  49. pressure release. Reference: OSHA regulation 29 CFR Section 1926.302 (b).
  50. Starting
  51. • Turn the POWER switch to “ON”.
  52. • Turn Power switch to “START” position to crank engine. Hold switch in “START”
  53. position for approximately 5 seconds after engine starts.

  59. Do not operate the starter motor for more than 30 seconds without allowing at
  60. least 30 seconds cooling time between start attempts.
  61. Release Power Switch (it will automatically move to the “ON” position) when the engine starts
  62. and sustains running.
  63. • Allow engine to warm up 5 to 10 minutes.
  64. • If so equipped, press the “Service Air Button”. Open air service valve(s).
  65. Cold Weather Starting
  66. • Turn power switch to the glow plug position and hold 10 seconds. Then turn to start.
  67. NOTICE
  68. Exercise extreme caution when using a booster battery to start. To jump start:
  69. Connect the ends of one booster cable to the positive (+) terminals of each
  70. battery. Then connect one end of the other cable to the negative (-) terminal of
  71. the booster
