Before you start
- The lash adjuster is a precision part. Keep it free from dust and foreign matter.
- Do not disassemble lash adjusters.
- When cleaning lash adjusters, use clean diesel fuel only.
Procedure
- Immerse the lash adjuster in clean diesel fuel.
- Move plunger up and down four or five times while pushing down inner steel ball to bleed air.
- Remove wire and press plunger; if hard to push in, adjuster is normal; if loose, replace.
- Set the lash adjuster on Leak down tester (800400).
- Measure time after plunger has gone down 0.2-0.5 mm.
