Before you start
- Engine oil will be hot; use protective gloves to prevent burns.
- Always change the oil filter when changing the oil.
Procedure
- Start engine and run until normal operating temperature.
- Stop engine.
- Remove drain plug and allow oil to drain.
- Remove and discard oil filter and its sealing ring.
- Coat new filter sealing ring with clean engine oil, wipe mounting surface, tighten securely (do not over-tighten).
- Check drain plug sealing ring, replace if damaged, wipe surfaces and reinstall plug; tighten to specification.
- Fill crankcase with oil.
- Start engine and check for oil leaks.
- Dispose of oil and filter safely.
