Before you start
- Do not remove the water temperature regulator from the housing to perform the test.
Procedure
- Remove the water temperature regulator housing from the engine.
- Heat water in a pan until it equals the fully open temperature of the regulator; stir.
- Hang the housing in the pan below the surface, away from sides and bottom.
- Keep the water at the correct temperature for ten minutes.
- Remove the housing and immediately measure the opening of the regulator.
- Replace the regulator if the opening is less than specified.
