Procedure
- Remove the fuel injection pump, see Operation 11-31.
- Fit the adaptor 21825513 (A) to the drive shaft of the fuel pump and fasten with the fuel pump gear nut.
- Remove the banjo bolt from number 1 high-pressure outlet; fit a banjo bolt which does not contain a pressure valve.
- Connect number 1 outlet to an atomiser tester and operate the hand pump until 30 atm is indicated on the gauge.
- Loosen the screw (B3) on timing tool 21825610, set the tool to the correct angle, and tighten the screw.
- Fit the timing tool to the adaptor and rotate the pump drive shaft by hand in the normal direction until fuel pressure prevents movement.
- Loosen the screw (B1); slide the pointer (B2) forward over the centre of the pump flange.
- Check that the mark on the flange is in the centre of the slot in the pointer.
- If the mark is not correct, eliminate the mark, set the pump at start of injection, and make a new mark through the pointer slot.
- Remove the timing tool and the adaptor.
- Disconnect the atomiser tester and fit the original banjo bolt to number 1 high-pressure outlet.
- Fit the fuel injection pump, see Operation 11-32.
- Eliminate air from the fuel system, see Operation 11-35.
