Perkins — Throttle Valve (Intake Air) - Remove and Install (Side Facing Inlet Elbow)

Procedure
- Removal:
- 1. Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the hose assembly from elbow (3).
- 2. Slide the locking tab into the unlocked position and disconnect harness assembly (1) from throttle valve (2).
- 3. Loosen hose clamp (6) and disconnect hose assembly (7) from elbow (3).
- 4. Remove plug (4) from elbow (3). Remove sealing washer (5) from the plug.
- 5. Remove nuts (9) from studs (13).
- 6. Remove bolts (8).
- 7. Remove gasket (12).
- 8. Remove throttle valve (2) from studs (13).
- 9. Remove gasket (14).
- 10. If necessary, remove adaptor (11) and sealing washer (10) from elbow (3).
- Installation:
- 1. Check all components for wear and damage.
- 2. If necessary, install studs (13).
- 3. Install gasket (14) onto studs (13).
- 4. If necessary, install adaptor (11) with new sealing washer (10) and apply Tooling (A), tighten to 20 N·m.
- 5. Install throttle valve (2) onto studs (13).
- 6. Install gasket (12) onto studs (13).
- 7. Install bolt (8) in Position (X) to elbow (3) and tighten finger tight.
- 8. Install nuts (9) to studs (13).
- 9. Tighten bolts (8) and nuts (9) to 10 N·m.
- 10. Install new sealing washer (5) to plug (4).
- 11. Apply Tooling (A) to plug (4) and tighten to 50 N·m.
- 12. Install the clamp to the air inlet hose and connect to air inlet elbow (3).
- 13. Connect harness assembly (1) onto throttle valve (2). Slide the locking tab into the locked position.
Tools required
- Technologic 15
Specs & torque values
- Plugs and adaptor torque: 20 N·m (177 lb in)
- Nuts and bolts torque: 10 N·m (89 lb in)
- Plug (4) torque: 50 N·m (37 lb ft)
