Before you start
- Ensure plastic tube assemblies are installed in original positions
- Failure to connect correctly will allow contamination to enter the fuel system
Procedure
- Ensure fuel filter base is clean and free from damage
- Install a new filter element to fuel filter canister
- Install new O-ring seals to connections
- Install connections to primary fuel filter and tighten to 20 N·m
- Install plugs with new O-ring seals and tighten to 20 N·m
- Install vent screw assembly with new O-ring seal
- Install water in fuel sensor with new O-ring seal
- Position the assembly of primary fuel filter onto mounting bracket
- Install bolts to primary fuel filter assembly and tighten to 50 N·m
- Remove plugs from plastic tube assemblies
- Connect plastic tube assemblies to connecting ports
- Connect OEM harness assembly to water in fuel sensor
- Turn the fuel supply to the ON position
- Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position
- Remove the air from the fuel system
Specs & torque values
- Connection torque: 20 N·m (177 lb in)
- Bolt torque: 50 N·m (37 lb ft)
