Before you start
- Discard the used lubricating oil filters in a safe place and in accordance with local regulations.
- Only genuine Perkins parts must be used. The use of a non-genuine canister may damage the engine and void warranty.
- All three oil filters must be changed as a set.
Procedure
- Put a suitable container below the lubricating oil filter.
- Remove the filter canister (A3) with a suitable strap wrench. Discard the canister.
- Clean the filter head (A1).
- Lubricate the top of the canister seal (A2) with clean engine lubricating oil.
- Fit the new canister and tighten it by hand only. Do not use a strap wrench.
- Remove the container and discard the old lubricating oil.
- With the starter motor disengaged, check the oil level on the dipstick and add more oil into the sump if necessary.
- Run the engine off load and check for oil leaks from the oil system.

- Oil filter canister capacity: approximately 5 litres (1 gal)
- Three oil filters must be changed as a set
