Perkins — Fuel System - Prime

Before you start

  • Do not allow dirt to enter fuel system
  • Do not operate starting motor more than 15 seconds

Procedure

  1. Ensure fuel valve on fuel filter is ON.
  2. Loosen vent screw on fuel filter.
  3. Operate priming pump until fuel free from air flows.
  4. Tighten vent screw.
  5. Loosen connection at fuel injection pump.
  6. Operate priming pump until fuel free from air flows.
  7. Tighten connecting bolt.
  8. Start engine; operate starting motor max 15 seconds.
  9. If engine does not start, wait 30 seconds before retry.
