Before you start

  • Note: The locking screw (5) must be tightened in
  • Note: Put identification marks on all fuel hose

Procedure

  1. 1. Ensure that the No. 1 cylinder is at top dead
  2. center on the compression stroke. Refer to the
  3. Testing and Adjusting Manual, “Finding Top
  4. Center Position for No. 1 Piston”.

  8. 2. Loosen the locking screw (5). Rotate the spacer
  9. (6) in order to allow the locking screw (5) to
  10. tighten against the shaft of the fuel injection
  11. pump. Rotate the fuel injection pump gear in a
  12. counterclockwise direction in order to remove
  13. the backlash. Tighten the locking screw (5) to a
  14. torque of 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
  15. Note: The locking screw (5) must be tightened in
  16. order to prevent the shaft of the fuel injection pump
  17. from rotating. The shaft of the fuel injection pump
  18. must not be rotated after the fuel injection pump
  19. has been removed from the engine.
  20. Note: Put identification marks on all fuel hose

Tools required

  • 7. Use a suitable puller in order to remove the fuel

Specs & torque values

  • 17 N·m
