Perkins SEBU8731 — Long-Term Engine Storage Procedure

Before you start
- Do not store an engine that has biodiesel in the fuel system
Procedure
- Ensure that the engine is clean and dry. If the engine has been operated using biodiesel, the system must be drained and new filters installed. The fuel tank will require flushing. Fill the fuel system with an acceptable fuel. For more information on acceptable fuels refer to this Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fluid recommendations". Operate the engine for 15 minutes in order to remove all biodiesel from the system.
- Drain any water from the primary filter water separator. Ensure that the fuel tank is full.
- The engine oil will not need to be drained in order to store the engine. Provided the correct specification of engine oil is used the engine can be stored with the oil in the crankcase.
- Ensure that the engine is secure and level.
- Store the engine in a clean, dry place.
