Procedure

1. Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.
2. Connect cable (2) between the COMPUTER end of TIPSS adapter (3) and the RS232 serial port of PC (1). The Adapter Cable Assembly (4) is required for computers without an RS232 serial port.
3. Connect cable (4) between the DATA LINK end of TIPSS adapter (3) and the service tool connector.
4. Place the keyswitch in the ON position. If the Electronic Service Tool and the TIPSS adapter do not communicate with the ECM, refer to Troubleshooting, Electronic Service Tool Does Not Communicate.
