Perkins — Lifter Group - Remove and Install

For these Perkins models: 1103, 1103 Engine, 1104, 1104 Engine, 1104 Turbocharged Engine, SEBU7833-01.

Applies to: Perkins 1104

Before you start

  • NOTICE: Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
  • Note: Place an identification mark on each cam follower for installation purposes.
  • Note: Ensure that each cam follower (1) is installed in the original location and that each cam follower is seated correctly.

Procedure

  1. Start By: a. Remove the cylinder head if the cylinder head has not previously been removed. b. Remove the engine oil pan if the engine oil pan has not previously been removed. c. Remove the camshaft.
  2. Removal 1. Use a suitable magnet to remove each cam follower (1).
  3. Installation 1. Lubricate each cam follower (1) with clean engine oil.
  4. Installation 2. Install each cam follower (1) into the appropriate housing in the cylinder block.
  5. End By: a. Install the camshaft. b. Install the engine oil pan if this is the appropriate time. c. Install the cylinder head if this is the appropriate time.

Tools required

  • Suitable magnet (for cam follower removal)
