Perkins 403F-11 — Water Pump - Remove and Install

Before you start
- Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained.
- Keep all parts clean from contaminants.
Procedure
- Remove the fan.
- Drain coolant from cooling system into a suitable container.
- Loosen hose clamp and disconnect coolant hose from inlet connection on water pump.
- Loosen hose clamps and disconnect hose assembly from water pump and water temperature regulator.
- Remove bolt and washer from adjusting bracket.
- Remove bolts and nut from water pump, supporting the water pump.
- Remove water pump from cylinder block.
- Remove gasket.
- Install new gasket over stud; ensure correct orientation.
- Apply Loctite 242 to first two threads of bolts and nut.
- Install water pump, bolts and nut hand tight.
- Tighten bolts and nut to 5 N·m, then to 10 N·m in sequence.
- Connect coolant hoses and tighten clamps.
- Install adjusting bracket and tighten bolts to 22 N·m.
- Install fan and fill cooling system with coolant.
