Perkins 1506 — Fuel System Primary Filter (Water Separator) Element - Replace

Before you start
- Ensure that the engine is stopped before any servicing or repair is performed.
- Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system.
Procedure
- Turn the fuel supply valve OFF; place a container under the filter assembly and clean the outside.
- Drain the fuel from the primary fuel filter; open drain valve (1) and allow to drain, then close.
- Using a suitable tool, remove the primary fuel filter (4) from housing (2); discard.
- Lubricate the O ring seal (3) with clean diesel fuel and install the new primary fuel filter (4).
- Spin on by hand; when the O ring seal contacts the sealing surface rotate ¾ of a full turn.
- Turn the fuel line valves ON and prime the fuel system.
