Before you start
- Incorrect or incomplete flushing of the cooling system can result in damage to copper and other metal components.
Procedure
- Drain the coolant into a suitable container.
- Dispose of the coolant according to local regulations.
- Flush the system with clean water to remove debris.
- Use Perkins cleaner to clean the system following the label instructions.
- Drain the cleaner and flush the cooling system with clean water.
- Fill with clean water and operate the engine until warmed to 49 to 66 C (120 to 150 F).
- Drain the cooling system and flush with clean water.
- Repeat steps 6 and 7 until the system is completely clean.
- Fill the cooling system with Perkins Premixed ELC.
