Before you start
- Ensure that the components of the breather assembly are installed in the correct position.
Procedure
- Remove dirt and oil from the outside of the breather assembly.
- Remove the top cover by turning counterclockwise until the lugs disengage.
- Remove the breather element with its O ring; discard the element. Clean the inner surfaces of the breather body.
- Inspect the top cover O ring; replace it if worn or damaged.
- Lubricate the new element O ring with clean engine oil and insert the element into the breather body.
- Lubricate the top cover O ring and insert the top cover. Rotate clockwise until the lugs are fully engaged.
