Perkins 1104 — Fuel Injection Pump - Install

Procedure

1. If previously disassembled, install fuel transfer pump and position sensor to fuel injection pump.
2. Check fuel injection pump timing using timing tool.
3. If timing lost, reset timing: loosen locking screw, slide spacer to Z1, tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
4. Position timing tool onto shaft, align lever with key slot, engage lever.
5. Rotate shaft until pin engages hole.
6. Loosen locking screw, slide spacer to Z2, tighten against shaft to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
7. Remove timing tool.
8. Inspect bore in front housing for damage.
9. Lubricate new O-ring seal and install onto fuel injection pump.
10. Align holes and install pump to front housing.
11. Install bolts and new sealing washers; tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
12. Install fuel injection pump gear.
13. Install front cover.
14. Install support bracket and bolts; tighten bolt 18 to 44 N·m (32.5 lb ft), bolts 16 to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
15. Install tube assemblies and fuel injection line; tighten banjo bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
