Procedure
- Place a new valve in the valve guide.
- Place a suitable dial indicator with magnetic base on the face of the cylinder head.
- Lift the edge of the valve head to a distance of 15.0 mm (0.60 inch).
- Move the valve radially away from the dial indicator as far as possible and set the needle to zero.
- Move the valve radially toward the dial indicator as far as possible and note the movement.
- If the distance is greater than the maximum clearance, replace the valve guide; new valves and valve seat inserts must be installed.
