Perkins 1103 / 1104 — Inlet and Exhaust Valves - Install

Installation

For the Perkins 1103 / 1104, from the Perkins service manual.

Procedure

  1. Clean bottom face of cylinder head; ensure no debris in ports.
  2. Inspect valve seats and valve guides for wear; replace worn parts.
  3. Lubricate valve stems; install inlet and exhaust valves.
  4. Install new valve stem seals onto each valve guide.
  5. Install valve springs and retainers.
  6. Compress springs using valve spring compressor; install keepers.
  7. Release compressor; strike valve top with soft hammer.
  8. Check valve depth below cylinder head face with dial indicator.
