Before you start
- Holding the preheat switch too long can burn out the glow plugs.
Procedure
- Hold Shutdown Bypass-Preheat switch ON for 10 to 20 seconds before starting a cold engine.
- While holding the preheat switch ON, push Engine Control switch to START.
- Release both switches as soon as engine starts.
- Do not crank the starter more than 20 seconds consecutively.
