MTU 12V 1600 R50 — Fuel system - Venting

Before you start

  • Fuels are combustible; risk of fire and explosion

Procedure

  1. Unlock fuel priming pump, screw out handle.
  2. Loosen threaded vent plug and screw out approx. 3 to 4 turns.
  3. Operate pump with handle until bubble-free fuel emerges.
  4. Close threaded vent plug and tighten by hand.
  5. Open threaded vent plug on fuel filter, operate pump until bubble-free fuel, close.
  6. Tighten vent plug to 6.5 Nm +/-1.3 Nm.
