MTU 12V 1600 R50 — Fuel filter - Replacement

Before you start

  • Fuels are combustible; risk of fire and explosion

Procedure

  1. Unscrew drain screw.
  2. Loosen screw cap on fuel filter approx. 3 to 4 turns.
  3. Wait 10 minutes until fuel emerges from filter housing.
  4. Unscrew threaded cover and unscrew fuel filter element.
  5. Check sealing ring on screw cap; replace if damaged, coat with engine oil.
  6. Screw in new fuel filter element by hand.
  7. Tighten cover 32 A/F to 40 Nm +/-5 Nm.
  8. Tighten drain plug to 6.5 Nm +/-1.3 Nm; vent fuel system.
