Procedure

1. Move the engine fuel valve lever to the ON position.
2. If starting a cold engine, place the choke lever in the CLOSED position.
3. If starting a warm engine, place the choke lever in the OPEN position.
4. Place the engine ON/OFF switch in the ON position.
5. Place the ON/OFF switch located on the left strap to the ON position.
6. Place the throttle lever in the UP (TURTLE) position to start in IDLE mode.
7. Slowly pull the starter grip until resistance is felt, then pull briskly and smoothly.
8. Slowly return the choke lever to the OPEN position once the engine starts.
