Before you start
- To crank the engine, shut off the fuel supply and operate the starter.
Procedure
- Remove the cover from the engine.
- Connect a fully charged battery.
- Remove the covers from the starters and alternator.
- Adjust the tension of V-belt.
- Remove sealing tapes from the openings of the engine.
- Drain rust-preventive oil, and pour in appropriate engine oil.
- Fill the fuel tank with fuel, and bleed the fuel system.
- Inspect the entire engine.
- Remove the rocker covers, and lubricate the valve mechanisms.
- Shut off the fuel supply and crank the engine for about 10 seconds. Repeat this cranking 3 times at intervals of about 1 minute.
- Make sure the engine oil pressure rises.
- Start the engine.
- Conduct a warm-up operation for a sufficient duration.
- Apply load and increase the engine speed to the rated speed.
