Before you start

  • Do not overfill above the high mark; engine oil may blow out and component parts are adversely affected by oil temperature rise

Procedure

  1. Remove the cap from the oil filler.
  2. Fill the engine oil pan with specified engine oil to the specified level.
  3. Remove the rocker cover and pour engine oil into the valve mechanism and camshaft oil bath.
  4. Reinstall the rocker covers.
  5. Check the oil level using the oil level gauge; proper level is between high and low marks.
  6. Crank the engine (pulling stop lever) for approx. 10 seconds, 2-3 times, to circulate oil.
  7. Start the engine and run at low idle, no load, for 5 to 10 minutes.
  8. Recheck oil level after leaving the engine stopped for 30 minutes or more; add oil as needed.

Specs & values

  • Oil capacity per cylinder: 0.8 L [0.21 U.S. gal.] (valve mechanism/camshaft oil bath)
