Before you start

  • NOTE:

Procedure

  1. 2. Apply engine oil to the thread of the bolts and to
  2. the washers.
  3. 3. Using special tool Cylinder head bolt wrench
  4. (800410) tighten the bolts to the specified torque,
  5. using the tightening sequence shown.
  6. Tightening torque: 78 ± 2 N·m
  7. 4. Loosen all bolts fully in the reverse order of
  8. tightening.
  9. 5. Retighten the loosened bolts to in the tightening
  10. sequence shown.
  11. Tightening torque: 20 ± 2 N·m
  12. 6. Make a paint mark across each bolt head and
  13. cylinder head.
  14. 7. Tighten the cylinder head bolts 90 degrees in the
  15. specified order.
  16. 8. Tighten the bolts another 90 degrees in the
  17. same order as in step 7, and check that the paint
  18. marks on the cylinder head bolt are aligned with
  19. the paint marks on the cylinder head.
  20. NOTE:
  21.  If the bolt is turned less than 90 degrees,
  22. proper fastening performance may not be achieved.
  23. Be careful to turn each bolt exactly 90 degrees.
  24.  If the bolt is overtightened, loosen the bolt
  25. completely and then retighten it by repeating the
