Military MEP MEP-804A — Check fuel injection pump timing

Before you start

  • Take care to avoid entry of dirt or foreign particles in fuel injection pump.

Procedure

  1. Check notched line alignment on pump fixing flange and mounting flange.
  2. Align crankshaft pulley TDC mark with pointer.
  3. Rotate crankshaft pulley counterclockwise approximately 30 degrees.
  4. Disconnect injection pipe from delivery valve No. 1.
  5. Remove No. 1 plate assembly, valve body, spring, gasket, and valve.
  6. Install valve body and tighten to 31 ft-lbs (42.0 Nm).
  7. Hold fuel control lever to full fuel position.
  8. Slowly turn crankshaft pulley clockwise while operating priming pump until fuel stops flowing from No. 1 delivery valve.
