MAN — Checking oil level

Maintenance · engine lubrication / oil dipstick

From a MAN operator's manual covering: D 2842 LE 602, D 2842 LE 604, D 2842 LE 606, D2842 LE607. Check it applies to your exact model before use.

Before you start

  • Do not add so much engine oil that the level rises above the max. marking; overfilling will damage the engine.

Procedure

  1. Check oil level with engine horizontal, at least 20 minutes after switching off
  2. Pull out dipstick
  3. Wipe it with a clean, lint-free cloth and push it in again up to the stop
  4. Pull out dipstick again
  5. Oil level must be between the two notches and never below the lower notch; top up as necessary
