Leroy-Somer — Reconditioning bearings with grease nipples

Maintenance

From a Leroy-Somer service manual — check it applies to your exact model before use.

Before you start

  • Too much grease causes the bearing to overheat.

Procedure

  1. Always begin by cleaning the waste grease channel.
  2. If using the grease stated on the nameplate, remove the covers and clean the grease nipple heads.
  3. If a different grease is used, dismantle the motor and clean bearings and accessories with degreasing agent.
  4. Fill the inner free spaces of bearing retainers, flanges and grease pipes and 30% of the bearing free space.
  5. Rotate the motor shaft to distribute the grease.
