Leroy-Somer — Coupling alignment of two shafts

Installation

From a Leroy-Somer service manual — check it applies to your exact model before use.

Before you start

  • Deviations exceeding 0.05 mm indicate the need for axial or radial adjustment

Procedure

  1. Provisionally assemble both coupling halves
  2. Adjust the parallel plane of both shafts using a gauge
  3. Measure the distance between the two coupling surfaces at one point on the circumference
  4. Rotate them 90°, 180° and 270° in relation to this initial position and measure each time
  5. The difference between the two extremes of value x must not exceed 0.05 mm for standard couplings
  6. To check concentricity, mount 2 gauges and slowly turn both shafts
