Before you start
- Before disassembly, disconnect batteries and AC accessories, shut off fuel supply, drain fuel as necessary, and ventilate work area.
- Cranes and hoists must be rated for the weight of the generator set.
Procedure
- Remove end panel and enclosure side panels.
- Disconnect stator lead connections and remove base tray.
- Disconnect stator from steel mounting frame by removing bolts from vibro-mounts.
- Cradle stator with lifting straps and raise with a hoist off vibro-mounts.
- Place wood blocks under flywheel housing to support engine; lower onto blocks.
- Remove black plastic speed sensor from end bracket (NFPA models only).
- Lift brushes by the leads and lock in holder with wire or paper clip.
- Remove four overbolts and bump end bracket with a rubber mallet to remove.
- Remove the stator by guiding it to the rear.
- Loosen thru bolt 2-3 turns; break rotor loose from taper by striking bolt head with a lead mallet.
- Remove thru bolt and pull rotor away from engine.
