Before you start

  • Do not close the isolating contacts unless the Transfer Switch and Bypass Switch are in the same position (normal or emergency).

Procedure

  1. Operate and hold the door-mounted test switch until the generator set starts (should happen within 15 seconds).
  2. The Transfer Switch will operate to the emergency position; the load-connected-to-emergency lamp should come on.
  3. The Transfer Switch will operate back to normal after the return-to-normal time delay (up to 30 minutes).
  4. The time-delay-engine-cooldown will allow the generator set to run unloaded for several minutes before shutting down.
  5. Check the position of the Bypass Handle; it should indicate the source that is bypassed.
  6. Check which load-connected-to lamp is on; change the position of the Transfer Switch if it is not the same as the Bypass Switch.
  7. Close the isolating contacts: 150-400-Amp turn the Isolation Handle clockwise to CLOSE; 600-800-Amp push in and turn to CLOSED.
  8. Turn the Bypass Handle to the AUTO position.
