Before you start
- Unit starts without notice on sets with automatic transfer switches; turn Generator Main Switch to OFF and remove battery cables before working.
Procedure
- Check oil level: at or near full mark, not over.
- Check fuel level: adequate supply; keep tanks full for extended operation.
- Check battery connections and battery electrolyte level.
- Maintain coolant level one-half to one inch below top of filler neck.
- Verify air cleaner is clean and properly installed.
- Visually check radiator fan, water pump and battery charging alternator belts.
- Ensure operating area is clear of obstructions, rags, tools or debris.
- Check exhaust outlet is clear; silencer and piping tight and in good condition.
- Press lamp test button and check all panel lamps operate.
Specs & values
- Coolant: 50% ethylene glycol / 50% clean soft water
- Coolant level: one-half to one inch below top of filler neck
