Before you start

  • Hazardous voltage. Only authorized personnel should open the enclosure.
  • Be prepared for the system to operate automatically.

Procedure

  1. Ensure that all downstream loads are switched off.
  2. If the source being measured is a generator set, start it by moving the master switch to RUN.
  3. Use a voltmeter to check the source phase-to-phase and phase-to-neutral terminal voltages and frequency.
  4. If Source N (utility) does not match the nameplate, STOP — the transfer switch is not designed for the application.
  5. If a generator set does not match the nameplate, adjust the generator set per the manufacturer's instructions.
  6. Use a phase rotation meter to check the phase rotation at the source terminals; rewire source terminals if necessary.
  7. Controller default phase rotation is ABC; change it to BAC in Source Setup if the application uses BAC.
  8. Stop the generator set (master switch to OFF/RESET) and repeat steps 2 through 5 for Source E.
  9. Close and lock the enclosure door, perform the Lamp Test, then proceed to the Automatic Operation Test.
