Before you start

  • Do not force adjustment needles as this will damage needle or seat.

Procedure

  1. Stop engine and turn Main Fuel adjustment all the way in (clockwise) until the needle bottoms lightly -- do not force.
  2. For preliminary adjustment, turn Main Fuel adjustment out (counterclockwise) 2-1/2 turns on side draft or 1-1/2 turns on up draft.
  3. Start engine and allow it to warm up to normal operating temperature.
  4. Place engine under normal load for final adjustment.
  5. Move Main Fuel needle in until engine starts to slow from too lean a mixture (note position).
  6. Back out until speed increases; continue turning richer until speed again starts to drop, then turn in about halfway between lean and overrich.
