Procedure

  1. 1. Use a micrometer and measure the diameter of
  2. the piston, 1/2” above bottom of piston skirt, per-
  3. pendicular to the piston pin (see Figure 10-4).
  4. 2. Use an inside micrometer, telescoping gauge, or
  5. bore gauge and measure the cylinder bore. Take
  6. the measurement approximately 2-1/2" below the
  7. top of the bore and perpendicular to the piston
  8. pin.
  9. 3. Piston-to-bore clearance is the difference be-
  10. tween the bore and the piston diameter
  11. (step 2 minus step 1).
