Procedure

  1. 1. Remove the hex. socket head screws, oil filter
  2. adapter, and gasket. Refer to Figure 9-30.
  3. 2. Put tape or govemor spring around the tappet
  4. stems in the #2 crankcase side. This prevents the
  5. tappets from falling into the #1 side when the
  6. crankcase is split.
  7. 3. Remove the hex. nuts, plain washers, and hex.
  8. flange screws securing the crankcase halves
  9. together.
  10. 4. Lay the crankcase down s0 the #2 side is up.
  11. Locate the splitting notches in the seam of the
  12. crankcase. Pry the halves apart using the blade
  13. of a large screwdriver. Refer to Figure 9-32.

Tools required

  • 1. Remove the hex. socket head screws, oil filter
  • adapter, and gasket. Refer to Figure 9-30.
